We’ve featured some pretty wild and crazy themed restaurants on Bit Rebels before, but I’ve never seen anything quite like this. When I first heard about this, I just thought it was another unusual place to eat, like The Modern Toilet restaurant or The Vampire Cafe. However, after finding out that customers can choose to be restrained in a straitjacket while sexy nurses spoon-feed them food served on sterilized stainless steel plates, I realized this is more of a fetish restaurant for those who have always had a special little thing for hospitals.
Why someone would choose to put themselves into a hospital environment (even if just for fun) is beyond me, but like I always say, to each his own. This restaurant is called the Hospitalis Restaurant and it’s in Riga, Latvia. The waitresses dress like nurses, and the bartenders dress like surgeons. The drinks are served up in lab flasks, and the customers eat with surgical utensils instead of standard forks, knives or chopsticks.
The decor of the restaurant, down to the very last detail, is all made to resemble a real hospital. People sometimes describe it as having a very clean (sterile, like a hospital) feel to it. I think the closest I’ve ever come to this is drinking a shot out of a test tube when I was at University. The more I write about this, the more I’m warming up to the idea. Besides, I kinda like the looks of those red wigs. If you are ever in Latvia, check it out!
