Drive-By Stencil Technology Makes Graffiti Art Fun & Fast

I think it’s cute that the Looptaggr creators, Ariel Schlesinger and Aram Bartholl, are calling this “stencil technology” when it’s really a DIY homemade “fast as hell” graffiti tagger. I haven’t written an article about graffiti in a very long time because it’s one of those activities that’s kinda like… been there, done that. However, I really like this Looptaggr concept, and I just had to share it with you.

Basically, if you have some wire (an old coat hanger), a spray can and a stencil, you can make this super cute and viciously powerful little stencil machine. I could see so many different street art applications for this. When you watch the video below, you’ll see how easy it makes the whole process of expressing yourself.

If you would like to make your own custom Looptaggr, Ariel and Aram have posted a nifty little tutorial here. In the beginning of the tutorial, they explain how to bend the coat hanger into a three-spoke wheel. To me, that looks exactly like the top of a lampshade. I wonder if that would work. If so, that would make this easy process even easier. I hope if you make one of these you’ll come back and leave us all a picture so we can see how it turned out!
