The street art we are used to these days is becoming quite mundane and ordinary, so I guess people around the world are starting to think up new ways to shock and awe us all. Some are good, and some are over the top to the level where we don’t even get what the hell it is about. If you’re living in a big city, you are probably used to a lot of different kinds of street art. Separating them from each other can sometimes be hard since they are all put on the same wall or area. However, every once in a while there are just posters put up with either a funny message or some overly obvious message in the form of a picture or illustration.
In Paris, they are under attack from a quite fresh and entertaining artist who puts Disney in a whole different world than we are used to seeing. It’s a bit of a mashup concept that I haven’t seen too much of, especially not on the streets here in Stockholm to be honest. We’ve seen that in Paris, they have all kinds of art going on. They have the Space Invaders people going around putting up Space Invaders stuff everywhere, and I would call that “bitifying Paris.” We can all use a little more 8-bit in our lives I reckon, right?
Flickr user Combo certainly has a style of his own. It might not be appreciated by a lot of people, but then again, the whole thing is probably a way to shake people up a bit and put another reality into their consciousness. If you think about it, it’s easy to end up in a cocoon of pure beauty if you don’t adventure out of your borders a little bit. Look at it this way, without the ugly there is no beautiful, if you know what I mean. So, how do you react to these? Are they worth the time or are they just making fun of Disney? Maybe they are even trying to dethrone Disney from their innocent branding kingdom. And yes, there some non Disney characters in there as well.
