Digital OCD: Making Sense Out Of The Madness [Photography]

Richard and I often joke that we have Digital OCD. Of course, OCD can be a very serious anxiety disorder, but we use the term more loosely. To us, it’s more like everything just has to be a certain way here at Bit Rebels. Richard likes every little detail of the design to be just right, and he will not stop until it’s orderly and perfect. I’m like that with the text. Every semi-colon and word is checked and double-checked. It’s like a disease really. It’s a good thing we have each other to work with because we would probably drive anyone else crazy.

When I found these images, I giggled because they reminded me of our conversations about that. You may be familiar with Swiss artist and comedian Ursus Wehrli. You can click over to Visual Journalism to see his TED talk from a few years ago. He is coming out with a new book next month called The Art of Clean Up. These images are from that book, and as you can see, he also enjoys tidying things up so they look just right.

In a world where things often seem disorderly and disorganized, it is comforting to see things in this cleaned up way. There is something about these pictures that make them seem soothing to me. They almost seem like tiny infographics. Very nice!
