Full-Size Crocheted Police Car Model Is A Different Kind Of Fuzz

Finally! There’s a decent crocheted police car. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Nah, but really, this isn’t something you see everyday. This is a full-size crocheted police car model that is all soft and fuzzy to the touch. When you look at this car from a distance, you wouldn’t even realize it’s crocheted. Usually crochet and cars don’t go together, but I think this police car model shows that they can mesh together well and even look badass, in a cozy kind of way.

Artist Kaija Papu and her team of helpers created this police car model in the most unusual way. First they built the car from foam plastic. The crocheted exterior was created separately, and then it was attached to the foam plastic shape, if that makes sense. They didn’t spare any detail, and even the tiniest part of this police car model is crocheted into perfect place. It’s quite a marvel really. It took them over three years to complete this project from start to finish, and now that I think about it, I remember reading something about this when they first started back around 2009. I think the part that is the most confusing is that police cars are normally thought of as being a bit masculine. This crocheted police car model was created by a woman and definitely has a woman’s touch. It’s a great contrast between what is masculine and what is feminine. This car was on display in a museum up until a few months ago. I don’t know where it is now, but hopefully it has a good home. Perhaps Kaija Papu will make a crocheted garage where she can store it.
