Disturbing Nightmarish Clockwork Orange & Muppet Babies Mashup

I haven’t written about any mind-twisting mashups lately, and when I saw this one, I instantly knew it was time to venture into the world of bizarrely interesting mashups again. There are a few movies that will give me nightmares like no others. The Human Centipede is one, and A Clockwork Orange is another. I’ve written about The Human Centipede many times, but I think this is the first time I’ve covered A Clockwork Orange on Bit Rebels. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a classic Stanley Kubrick film from 1971 that will make you shutter. It’s based on the 1962 novel of the same name. I think the original release of the film was rated x, which just hints at the violence and psychological nature. So, can you imagine that kind of depravity being mashed up with The Muppet Babies?

The Muppet Babies, by Jim Henson, was an American television series (a cartoon) that aired from 1984 – 1991. It featured Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie the bear, Animal, Scooter, Gonzo, Beaker and more Muppet Babies we all know and love. The Muppet Babies are a symbol of all that is good and pure. Those Muppets make children smile and are filled with innocent happiness.

Who would ever think to mix such a world of horror with a world of joy? In this case, it was Brazilian artist Butcher Billy. He wrote that this is “…Something even more twisted. Something that would make Anthony Burgess and Stanley Kubrick spin in their graves.” He designed each one of these Muppet Babies illustrations as if they were part of a children’s book series. It’s so strange because if you just glance at these, you will probably be unaffected, but if you really look at them…well…here come the nightmares.
