Nightmarish Bert And Ernie Cosplay That Will Haunt You Tonight

Disturbing-Bert-And-Ernie-Cosplay

Before today, I would have never seen the similarities between the innocent and cute Bert and Ernie that we all remember watching and the movie The Human Centipede. I remember about two years ago when I watched the trailer for that movie for the first time. I remember what day of the week it was, where I was, what I was doing – Everything. It’s one of those things that gave me nightmares for weeks, and to this day, I am grateful for my kneecaps. There is truly no greater example of horror, creativity and lunacy all wrapped into one strange visual which still lives in the back of my mind. Fast forward to this Bert and Ernie cosplay. It may not be quite as creepily insane as attaching people ass-to-mouth, but don’t be surprised if it shows up in one of your nightmares soon.

The thing I realize after seeing these bizarre photos is that I think seeing any Muppet in the flesh would be strange, not to mention this Bert and Ernie who look like they are alcoholic chain smokers with bad skin. I’m going to try to put these images out of my mind and remember Bert and Ernie like they should be remembered…a couple of sweet gay guys who frolic on Sesame Street and sing happy songs.

This was originally posted on reddit a few days ago, and the comments over there are entertaining as always. This Bert and Ernie were spotted right here in Atlanta last weekend at Dragon*Con. The cosplayers are Jay Maloney (Ernie) and Joe Daft (Bert). You can read all about it and see some fabulous pictures for how they created these costumes by clicking over to Bert And Ernie Take Dragon*Con. I guess at the end of the day, whether they are creepy or not, they are still the best buddies in the world. That’s all that really matters, right?
